Mahindra XUV700 Gets a Rs 2 Lakh Price Cut Ahead of Anniversary
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has slashed the starting price of its best-selling sports utility vehicle, the XUV700, by over Rs 2 lakh for a limited period. The AX7 range of the XUV700 now has a starting price of Rs 19.49 lakh as against Rs 21.54 lakh earlier, according to a company statement issued on July 9, 2024. This “celebratory pricing” aligns with the XUV700’s upcoming three-year anniversary in the market and will be available for four months starting July 10.

The price revision comes as the XUV700 recently achieved the production milestone of 200,000 units in less than three years. Mahindra has also introduced two new colour options—’Deep Forest’ and ‘Burnt Sienna’—to increase the range to nine colourways.
“The refreshed pricing aims to make the XUV700 even more accessible to a broader range of customers while providing exceptional value,” M&M said in the statement. The price cut is significant, as it comes hours after Tata Motors Ltd. reduced prices across its SUV range by up to Rs 1.5 lakh.Mahindra XUV700 price cut.
The XUV700 AX7 trim offers a host of features including a dual 26.03 cm HD infotainment and digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, Level-2 ADAS, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and driver drowsiness detection. It also boasts 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, LED headlamps with auto booster, and a luxurious leatherette interior.

The AX7 Luxury Pack adds even more features, such as a 12-speaker Sony D audio system, 360-degree surround view, ventilated seats, knee airbag, passive keyless entry, electronic park brake, blind view monitor, continuous digital video recording, adaptive cruise control with stop and go (AT), telescopic steering, vanity mirror illumination, electric smart door handles, wireless charging, rear LED sequential turn indicators, and memory function for ORVM.
Customers can choose between a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine, both available with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The diesel engine also offers an all-wheel drive option with the automatic.

The price reduction comes as the Uttar Pradesh government has waived road tax on strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, benefitting the likes of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Toyota Kirloskar India Pvt. and Honda Cars India Pvt., with four out of five cars being SUVs.
“It’s important to promote technology other than electric vehicles because EVs alone can’t do the job,” Maruti Suzuki Chairman RC Bhargava told NDTV Profit, welcoming the move by the Uttar Pradesh government. He emphasized that the use of hybrids, CNG, and biofuels is crucial in addition to EVs to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas levels.
Conclusion
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s substantial price reduction for the XUV700, timed with the vehicle’s three-year anniversary and the achievement of a significant production milestone, underscores the company’s commitment to making its flagship SUV more accessible. The celebratory pricing, coupled with the introduction of new color options and a host of advanced features, enhances the appeal of the XUV700 in a competitive market. This move, coinciding with similar price cuts by competitors like Tata Motors and government incentives for hybrid vehicles, highlights the evolving landscape of the Indian automotive industry, where affordability, innovation, and environmental considerations are increasingly shaping consumer choices.
