Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Secures Mega Order for Solar PV Plants in the Middle East


Larsen and Toubro (L&T) announced on Monday that its Renewable arm has secured a significant order from a leading developer in the Middle East to develop two Gigawatt-scale Solar PV plants with a cumulative capacity of 3.5 GW.
The scope of these orders includes grid interconnections encompassing pooling substations and overhead transmission lines. Detailed engineering and initial construction work are expected to commence shortly, according to the company’s regulatory filing.


Earlier last month, L&T announced securing a solar-cum-storage plant order in India. With the new mega orders from the Middle East, L&T’s renewables portfolio is set to reach a cumulative capacity of 22 GWp (Gigawatt Peak), which includes both solar and wind generation projects that are already commissioned or currently under development.
T Madhava Das, Whole-time Director & Sr Executive Vice President (Utilities) at L&T, stated, “The successive order wins stand as a testimony to our proven engineering and project management capabilities to meet the requirements in terms of plant performance, workforce mobilisation, safety, quality, and timeline. L&T classifies orders by their value as follows: significant orders are between Rs 1000 crore and Rs 2500 crore, large orders are worth Rs 2500 crore to Rs 5000 crore, major orders range from Rs 5000 crore to Rs 7000 crore, and mega orders are worth above Rs 7000 crore.
